Treatment
We will produce a film trailer in the style of Warp- (Alister Martin, Louis Norton, Taighlor McNally)
Synopsis
- In England, a young man has mysteriously disappeared, leaving he and his two brothers alone and confused. The authorities have given up searching for him after a failed investigation, but one of the brothers, Oscar, is determined to find his brother and thinks he has the evidence to locate him. It all links back to that forest- and if that's where his brother is, then that's where Oscars going.
Silent Captive
Target Audience
- 16-17 year old male. This is because the main character is a 16 year old male and so can act like an ideal self to the audience and it would also relate to anyone that has a brother or sister at that age.
Location:
- Burbage rocks area- Contingency- Ecclesall, Shirtcliff,
Props and models:
- Some kind of survival tool/weapon i.e. multi-tool, prop BB gun? Gear such as flashlight, bag/satchel, boots etc. Contingency- use fake gun, fake knife etc.
Equipment:
- We will need Cannon 650D DSLP cameras and some tripods to use them. We will also need some computers and Adobe Premiere for editing. We might need some lights to film but we are planning to use the natural light of the forest to create verisimilitude.

Health and Safety
- Possible frost and ice could lead to slip hazards. May also need specific clothing for warmth. Remember to bring correct footwear for the location.
- Sticks, stones, hills etc. could be a hazard to trip over
- Possible rain could lead to mud, swampy ground which would be another trip hazard.
- Lights overheating, could burn
- Maintain vigilance whilst on location to prevent these hazards
- Keep emergency contact numbers in case of an accident
- Consider other visitors and walkers in and around the area
- Make sure equipment is never unattended in case of it being stolen or lost.
- Anything that could bring harm to other people around.
To prevent the above we will use Risk assessments and Recce forms for all locations
- Recce forms will be used to analyse whether the location is good to film on or not and if it is what we need it to be as a set.
- We need to take photos on a recce because then we can further analyse when we get back.
- We will use Risk assessments because we can then analyse whether it is safe enough to actually film there and also if the above risks apply. We also use them to make ourselves aware of the risks so that we can appropriately counter them.
- Also, some premeditated possible risks may become redundant when we recce the location.
Legal, ethical and certification considerations.
BBFC guidelines our trailer will need to consider:
- Threat: a strong threat/ horror will be included on but no sadistic or sexual behaviour will be focused on. It will focus on the effect of this particular threat (the forest)
- Language: There may be mildly strong language, but it will not be particularly crude.
- Violence: Some violence will be shown but none endorsed or highlighted; it will be more of a backdrop for the story and not a key theme. Any hints at violence will not be shown vividly.
- Imitable Behaviour: Weapons will be included and held by the protagonist. Our character will not readily use them however, he is presented as someone who is weak and desperate, and is using weapons as an act of defence.
- It’s important to follow the BBFC regulations so that we can make it appeal to the target audience. It also shows the client that we know what we are doing and are adhering to official regulations.
- The trailer would air soon after the watershed. This is because it includes fairly mature themes, and hints at violence and death. These themes aren’t vividly shown but may definitely be dangerous to show to children. Very late at night would possibly be too late for the trailer, as it is not vividly gruesome or horror themed.
- Find royalty free music as a contingency, can produce some incidental music ourselves (Alister)
